Not a pretty picture

Norwegian Star

1 - embarkation was a disaster - NCL spelled my name wrong over and over again. It is Dolores but they kept insisting on Doloris, no matter how many times I corrected it. The docs had been spelled correctly, finally. So, after waiting on line for about an hour to check in, we had to go to another line to get it fixed and then back on the embarkation line to board. What a mess!

2 - debarkation - We were told that we could bring our own luggage off the ship and we would be able to disembark quickly. So we dragged our luggage down and lo and behold - a line that went on for (exaggerated of course) 2 miles!! We waited well over an hour go get through.

3 - Staff was unfriendly, not helpful and downright rude. Very few spoke English and even those that did were not willing to provide answers - even on directions to get from place to place on board. We had the impression that it was a new staff as well, and they didn't know their way around the ship any more than we did.

4 - Room service - this is so ridiculous that it is almost funny. We ordered room service each morning. On the first morning, we had coffee and sweet rolls and we were given 1 napkin to share. Thinking it was a mistake, we asked if we could please have another napkin. We were told to use the one on the bottom of the coffee cup because they were conserving and only 1 napkin per order was allowed. Can you imagine having to steal napkins each day so you could each have your own? Sad.

4 - Food was mediocre. The best restaurant and the only one that we thought was good was the steak house.

6 - Shows - finally, something good. We enjoyed most of the shows and also enjoyed the fact that there was music all over the ship, in lobbies, lounges, etc. Piano music, combos, guitarist, etc.were at different venues throughout the day.

Needless to say, we will not sail on NCL again. We chose it for the itinerary and the free style dining, but we will sail on Celebrity next time.
