Regent Seven Seas Cruises will launch a new headphone system this summer, allowing guests participating in shore excursions and land tours to hear their guides clearly beyond normal speaking range. The system will be carried aboard Regent Seven Seas ships and used at tourism sites where the company's lecturers and guides find it particularly useful, including historic and religious landmarks where loud conversation is forbidden.
Created in Italy, the system uses a small microphone through which the user can speak directly to guests wearing individual, lightweight headsets. The system will debut on June cruises to the Baltic and Europe aboard the Seven Seas Voyager and the Seven Seas Navigator, as well as on the Sept. 10 Grand Asia Pacific cruise aboard the Seven Seas Mariner. The headsets are individually packaged and disposable, meaning guests will receive a new, completely sanitary set with each tour.
