“It is best to wear NO JEWELRY when off the ship. First of all, not all of the islands are as safe as one would like. You don't want to be an easy mark for a thief. Secondly, if you walk into any store and want to bargain, they check your jewelry to "size you up". You don't need them to think you’re a wealthy American with lots of bucks willing to be spent at their store. It puts you into a much better bargaining position.”
