Embarkation: We flew in 2 days early and spent time with my folksthat live in The Villages of Florida. So they took us to the Port Of Tampa at about 11:30 AM and everything went smooth as we had our forms already filled out online check in. So by 12:00 Noon we were up at the Windjammer eating at the fantastic Buffet. Could not go to our stateroom till about 3:30PM and had to do muster drill at 4:30 station 9. All luggage showed up out our door about 7 PM and in time for Late seating dinner at 8:30PM. Had a very good Dinner and met head waiter (?), waiter (Fredrico) and asst. waiter (Maria). Day 1: Sea day and went to Welcome Aboard Show and met every one from cruise-critic Meet & Mingle in the Viking Lounge with drinks and snacks that the ship provided. Had to watch Belly Flop Contest so we were a little late getting to the M&M. But met all who showed up and saw them quite regularly through out the cruise. Day 2: Got to Grand Cayman and went ashore to go to beach first and snorkel but should have just taken taxi on our own and we could have saved $28 if we did not use the ships excursion. Then we took the Highlights Tour and went to Hell and Rum Cake store and to the Sea Turtle Hatchery the highlight of the tour cause we got to see turtles of all sizes and hold one and I also picked one up and let a friend that we met in cruise critic that was blind hold one and feel how soft they were. Then back to ship to do the shows and eat and get ready for formal dinner. Day 3: Got to Costa Maya and did the Dune Buggy Beach Snorkel Tour and had a blast with the guides and the Beach is one of the best we had been to. Little fishing village was not too pretty but there I had a Iguana on my head and got nice pic of that. Then back to ship for shows and sights and eating and more eating. Food was always great and you could have as much as you want. Did some line dancing and swing dancing class. Day 4: Got to Belize and did the cave-tubing and zipline canopy tour not with the ship and had a great time. Even in the Rain. We went with V.I.V. or cbelize.com and had two great guides Jr and Cheech this is one of our fav tours of all we have been on. Maybe Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios with Peat Taylor would top it. Day 5: Got to Cozumel and did the Power Snorkel and Sunset cruise on a catamaran and was great. We were suppose to do the Catch a Wave Bond Adventure but was cancelled the night before we got there so we booked two for the price of one. Looks like both Grand Cayman and Cozumel have recovered nicely after hurricanes in 2005. Day 6: Was a Sea day and did all the shows on ship and was in about 12 to 13 foot seas and loved it and slept like a baby. Day 7: Back to Tampa and got off the ship about 9:30 and my folks were there in about 5 min to pick us up and go back to visit with them a day before flying back to Chicago on Sunday. |
